sports filled weekend

Friday night the Tiger Cub Den went to an RIT hockey game at the Gene Polisseni Center.  I was transported back in time to my pep band days (mens hockey and men bball were my favorite to play for).  Although RIT didn't win, cowbells were rung, shouts to encourage the team and snacks were enjoyed by all.

Saturday found the boys at ski camp at Brantling (sorry no photos as I was too busy skiing).  A crockpot full of white bean chicken chili and a game of Qwirkle completed the night.

Sunday excited for the big game we took to the ice for some pond hockey at Highland Park.  You must shovel it off, bring your own stick but ahhh the fun of watching the boys circle, fall, get back up and do it again; there is nothing like it.

Sunday night we cheered for the Seahawks and then that play was made . . .yikes!  Well, the commercials were fun to watch while we enjoyed lots of food.

And then today, SNOW DAY!!!!  Okay, so twice shoveling the driveway was enough for me.  But we couldn't pass on the sledding at Cobbs Hill.  What fun!

pinewood derby

Friday night the Cub Scouts went to the races!  Cheers, count downs, songs, pizza, silliness and good old fashioned fun at this year's Pinewood Derby!  Blaise made a 'minion' car titled by the adults as 'One-in-a-minion' and Ambrose designed a sleek fire em-blazed car titled 'Fahrenheit 3000'.  Their cars raced well, not at the top but certainly held their own.  Blaise won the Chairman's Award for his design.  All-in-all a wonderful time was had by all.  Note: they are already discussing their designs for next year.

Ambrose is light blue hat near left side, Blaise on far right end, first row.

STEM club

Ambrose participates in STEM Club at school (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).  It is a club with 32 participants and open to grades 3-6.  He  was very excited to join as this is the first year he is eligible.  They have made paper, performed science experiments and just went on a field trip to the Water Treatment Plant.

Blaise and I went along on the field trip since I was asked to take photos for the yearbook.  We listened to a presentation and then walked around the $140 million dollar built in 2005 where 50 millions gallons of drinking water per day.

cousin time in Macedon

Over Christmas break we spent time with cousins in Macedon at Grandma's house.  Fort building, secret clubs and snap circuits took center stage.

On New Year's Eve we played several 'Minute to Win-It Games'.  Blow the cups off . .
sometimes you need Uncle Damian to help . . .
Put M&Ms by each hour of the clock with only a straw . .
Grandma tried too . . .
Knock over each cup in the clock with the tennis ball (inside the pantyhose) . . .
Outside time included hikes and sledding (granted we could have used a bit more snow for sledding, but they didn't complain).
You can fit four on this sled . . .
Aunt Sarah made rice pudding one night and we did a Danish tradition; the person who finds the almond in their pudding wins a prize.  Blaise won the game Headbanz!  We played an energy filled round; in fact we acted out every available card.  What fun!

our christmas

I can't believe Christmas break is over!  We had a wonderful time with family in South Carolina and Damian's family in Rochester.  Now the boys get to enjoy what they received for Christmas and some time at home.

Blaise and Ambrose enjoying their new nerf guns and disc shooter (Blaise pictured with disc shooter).
Our 'mad scientist' with his new lab coat trying out the fart bombs Santa left.
Blaise driving his cars along some hand made roads.
The boys with their favorite gifts . . .Blaise a lego camper, Damian a Babcock Hovey t-shirt (the Scout camp where he was a counselor) and Ambrose with his Physics Workshop.

the beach

Just take a look at how much fun we had at the beach (in December!!!)
