catapult

Ambrose and Blaise are both in STEM club at school.  The 'original' STEM Club is 3-6 grades.  This year Blaise was able to join the first annual Jr. STEM Club (grades 1-2).  In their first meeting Blaise and the other members explored germs by coughing into caps and sealing them in bags.  Also, swabbing pancakes with q-tips that were on the floor for 0, 5, 30 and 60 seconds.  Next meeting they will see how much bacteria has grown and dispute the old '5 second rule'.

Ambrose's group made catapults out of marshmallows, sticks and a spoon.  We recently got a wooden catapult kit but hadn't put it together yet .  . . well, here it is . . .

lego party

Blaise had a few friends to the YMCA for a lego party.  They decorated lego men, built with blocks, relay raced with legos and good old-fashioned fun!  We brought out balloons, a parachute and scooters . . . .tired them out just a bit.

Blaise and I had fun making his lego cake (complete with skittles).  He put together all the favors and in lieu of gifts we held a book exchange.  A fun time was had by all (note the photo below where Dad is with the balloon and then under the parachute).

Blaise turns 7

Legos and cars, oh my!  A case that holds 48 cars, what could be better for a matchbox car fanatic.  He lined up his favorite ones, moved them around and finally settled on the perfect spot for each one.  The lego set was quickly assembled and the boat floats!  It was deemed 'very cool'.

Blaise's birthday celebration in school included homemade pumpkin chocolate chip muffins.  A special appearance by our family's tradition of the hamster who sings 'happy birthday'.
After an in-school celebration, Valentine's day celebration we went onto a Mardi Gras party and then to the Amerks game!  WOW, day and evening full of fun!

valentines

Don’t mean to sound
“CHEEZY”
but we should
“STICK”
together.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Ambrose constructed paper airplanes for all of his classmates while Blaise wanted to give cheese sticks and we came up with a cute valentine.  And I found this great printable online for their teachers to go with a Starbucks gift card.  Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!
