sailing camp

What a difference a year makes!  Last year Ambrose wouldn't get on a sail boat with one of his cousins and this year he attended sailing camp in Sodus Point.  The weekend leading up to camp he shared with me that he was excited but nervous.  He did great!

Each day after camp he was bubbling with information (some of which I still do not understand).  In his down time he crafted sail boats out of aluminum foil, practiced knots and told us all about his time at camp.  He can't wait for camp next year!

One of the days at camp was 'crazy outfit day'.  He won the award for best costume (note:  he happened to be the only camper that dressed up.  I love the fact that he didn't care and rocked it!)  I couldn't be more proud.

Friday fun swim - flippers and kick board = duck jump
Traveling out with his counselor Caitlin (his oldest cousin) to get onto a sailboat.
 Sailing all by himself!

outfits

I spent hours practicing throwing a baton up in the air and twirling around in enough time to catch it in my front yard.  Sometimes I missed and it landed (ouch) on my head, other times I got dizzy from spinning so much and looking into the sun and fell down in the grass.  The anticipation of trying to do a difficult trick and then accomplishing it was thrilling.

My neighbor was my baton twirling coach and my mom was in charge of making most of my outfits.  She resurrected many outfits from my early years.  I passed them on to some cousins so that they can enjoy them and play dress up.  I have my favorites that remind me where I performed and to what music. I just hope the cousins enjoy the costumes as much as I enjoyed baton twirling.
