challenge

While visiting the Strong Museum we came across a table full of bins with these cool blocks.  Blaise and I decided that we were up for the challenge of using every single block.  You can see here he is putting the finishing touches on our very cool pattern.

indoor garden

Blaise choose fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers to plant in his indoor garden.  We had a lot of fun putting it together but he may have had more fun 'hiding' behind it.

went on a trip

We went on a trip back in time to when planes, trains and automobiles were making history . . .

We traveled to different places; San Francisco, Hawaii, Paris and more.

We saw all these things in one place, Strong Museum's newest exhibit, Legos!  And of course we got a lot of ideas to make things at home . . .now which one do we make first?
And we raced some cars!

inside snowman

The weather was a little crazy over the weekend; 60 degrees and sunny!  The boys snowman melted this weekend but the silver lining is more snow should fall and we can build another one.  Meanwhile, I decided to make some snowman cupcakes.  I made them for our church's coffee hour to help promote a cupcake competition coming up.

so excited

After spending Christmas in South Carolina we arrived home and guess who had stopped by?  Santa!  He delivered a new camera for Ambrose . . .

. . .and a car carrier (not pictured) and Honda Fit matchbox car for Blaise.

We also had a great visit with the Weidmann side; all 13 cousins together.  This is the best photo I got as everyone was moving around, 2 hidden and 1 napping . . .

Christmas in South Carolina

A look at some of the fun things we did while in South Carolina.  Grandpa took us on a tour of the woodworker's guild he belongs to.  He finished this corn separator for Uncle Greg.

Holding our newest nephew (or cousin) Ben.

Very intensely decorating Christmas cookies.

Shooting off the new rocket.

Squeezing hard to get all the icing onto the gingerbread house.

More holding of Ben.

Sleeping together in a queen sized bed . . .barely enough room, right?

Cousins racing their new wood toys.

Playing on Sam and Ben's new playset.

My cousin and her family came for a visit from Charlotte, NC.

Spending time with family . . .after all that is what it is all about.

The boys . . .Sam, Victor, Ben, Ambrose and Blaise.

sights of the holidays

As I start to take down decorations today,
I treasure the handmade.

Handmade tree from my mom that I had in my dorm room at college.
Snowman designed by Ambrose and made with grandpa.
Manger set made during Ambrose's after school art program.
Advent wreath made by Blaise in his preschool class.
Santa and his sleigh, an angel, manger ornament all designs of Ambrose.
