one little word

Ali Edwards started the 'one little word'.

My 2012 word is: nourish. Focus on doing things that nourish myself or the world around me. To cut out the things that don't nourish (junk food, wasted time, clutter), and focus on the things that do (good foods, creativity, reading). I want to focus on nourishing my family with good foods, and the attention they need.

my day

Showered with gifts on my special day from friends and family.
Time with family, time for a siesta, time to read
and time out just Damian and I for dinner.

What a perfect day!

pretend

Airplane pilots flying to a remote island,
grinding meat for dinner,
making lemonade on a summer day,
calling Daddy on the phone,
baking an apple pie,
churning butter,
washing vegetables to eat,
taking a break to read a book
and shopping for groceries.

It was one busy day at Strong Museum
for my little man.
I just tried to keep up!

wrapping up

This weekend I attended a neighborhood swap.
I came home with great finds, although I had planned on just getting rid of my own junk.

Doesn't Blaise look cute wrapped up in my new winter jacket.

inside looking out

January has arrived
brooms, shovels and scrapers commence
again and again and again

Blowing right into your face
chill spreads pink upon your cheeks
eyelashes heavy with flakes

scrap, scrap, pause, scrap
watch my neighbor work
scrap, scrap, heave

standing in the warmth
peeking from the window
do mine too?

heart

Loud or soft,
small or large,
hidden or in plain view,
announced or kept silent.
It is all around us.

Spoken, written,
drawn with a heart.
LOVE.

Assignment: take a photo of a heart

side of home, downtown on East Avenue

A game of Zingo, can you find the heart?

great weather

A friend recently posted on facebook that she bought new snow pants, jackets, boots, hats and gloves for her kids. Her and her husband bought their first pairs of snow shoes and new jackets. And she wrote, "Rochester, you are welcome for the great weather!" I'm not sure what she did or didn't do but certainly we are having an unseasonably warm winter. We have spent time outside playing sports, digging in the dirt and riding around on scooters and bikes.

Alas, the boys are anticipating making their first snowman, going sledding, going skiing again . . . oh winter, could you please send us a bit of snow? And PS if there is any way not to snow on my driveway, well, that would be extra nice!

happy new year

We decided to keep it simple for bringing in the New Year. After having wonderful visits with family over Christmas, going skiing and other fun adventures; some down time was in order. Cousin Isabella and Grandma (oops, not pictured) stayed over and we had a pajama movie night. We watched Pooh with the kids and then watched Water For Elephants; both were excellent!

As the New Year started today many sit down and compose resolutions. In lieu of a 'formal' list I simple want to concentrate on family, health and happiness.
