choices

Blaise goes with me most times when I head to Wegmans to grocery shop.  Today when it was his turn to decide what he wanted to do we went to Strong Museum and then met Daddy with a picnic lunch.  Ironically, we spent most of our time in Wegmans at Strong museum . . .hmmmm.

thanksgiving

We are thankful for family and facetime (to connect to other cousins).
For outdoor play, hikes, bonfire, and lots to eat.
For spy games, imaginations and craft time.
For aunts, uncles, grandma and cousins who read to us, spent time with us and who love us!

sharing feast

The first grade sharing feast was today.  I went to help serve and Blaise got to join in and sit down at the long table (all the desks pushed together) to eat family style.  Turkey slices, stuffing, cornbread, homemade butter, carrots, applesauce and fruit salad were enjoyed by all.

Ambrose told me after school today what Junie B. Jones (a character in a book that the teacher is reading) is thankful for, toilet paper.  Well, I guess that is a good thing to be thankful for.  We might add a few things like family, health . . .

cub scouts

Ambrose has been looking forward to today for quite some time. His Cub Scout Pack 65 gathered for a hike in Mendon Ponds Park.

The Cub Scouts showed that they knew the law and promise.

Ambrose received his Bobcat Badge and soccer belt loop.

Spaceship Derby time!  The spaceship was put together by Ambrose and my dad when he was in town.  In this race he came in first leaving the others in the dust.

cottage closed

The boys and I took one last kayak while Damian helped his mom close the cottage.  We docked the boat on Charles Point and found ourselves alone.  The sounds of water hitting the shore, birds calling to each other, we contemplated what we enjoyed most about our time at the cottage.  Then it was off to explore various rocks of shape and size, paths and where they lead, etc.  We made our way back to the cottage noting that docks had been pulled out and cottages were boarded up for the season.  Back at the cottage, load up the kayak, one last walk through, lockup until the next season.  Oh, and one last stop at Captain Jack's.  Can't wait for 'open' cottage season!

amerks game

Before the hockey game we saw the team's mascot and Blaise asked me 'what is inside the moose?'  When I told him that a person was he had a look of disbelief.  He went up and touched the moose's leg before coming back and stating 'ok' to me.  I guess that was the confirmation he needed.

The boys favorite part of the game, Zamboni.

Being silly . . .somebody is missing some teeth.

Ambrose turns seven

On November 2nd, 2005 around 1:45am Damian came to bed after completing work on our first floor powder room.  The goal had been met; to finish a bathroom on the first floor before our first child was born.  Around the same time I thought I hadn't made it to the bathroom but decided to try to go back to bed since Damian hadn't had any sleep.  3:30am I was feeling different and it was time to wake up Damian and call the doctor.  With under 2 hours of sleep he drove me to the hospital.  After just a few hours at 8am Ambrose was born.  When the nurses were weighing Ambrose he was crying out and Damian gently put his hand on his tummy and immediately he stopped crying. I still remember the look on Damian's face, one of amazement.  The same feeling I have now writing this and realizing that Ambrose is now seven.

My creative, thoughtful, always thinking boy is growing up so fast.  I enjoy watching you curl up on the couch and read a full book in one afternoon.  I love watching you play outside, ride your bike and never want to stop.  I know the look in your eye when you have a 'project' in mind and wonder how many tools/items this one will require.  My heart melts when you smile with that twinkle in your eye, and when you run off the bus every afternoon to hug me (gosh I hope that doesn't stop soon).  I love you Ambrose!

halloween

Ambrose wore a 'vintage' clown costume with SCARY makeup.  The costume was made by my mom for my brothers and myself.  Blaise going with the circus theme dressed as a tiger.

Damian and I had a party and dressed as Lucille Ball and a woopie cushion.

After pizza and dessert he looked more like 'smeary' clown.

Funny clown

My adorable tiger
