visit to south

Visit to Edisto Island over some time off (thank you Jewish holiday) by myself. Geechie Boy Mill where I even worked the line a bit with Miss DeeDee. I tried to help in the fields but the combine had other ideas and most of the day was spent fixing it.
Lots of texture and beautiful trees and scenery to see.
These two adorable guys and I even got 'pied' in the face by them or the game.
Finally, a visit to Miller's All Day - yum!

botany bay

Pure bliss.  That's the only way to describe Botany Bay Plantation.  I could have spent hours there taking photos, running on the beach, climbing the trees . . . .   The 4,630-acre plantation on Edisto Island was a gift from the Margaret Pepper family. It was given to the state in 1977 by Mr. Pepper, but was only able to be used after his wife passed away so she would have the opportunity to continue her years on the land she loved, as per her husband's request.  In July 2008, the land - now a Wildlife Management Area operated by South Carolina's Department of Natural Resources - was made open to the public.

more sights in sc

Where birds are plentiful, crabs can be caught from the dock and history abounds; ahhh, Edisto Island.  We got our 'history' on with a trip to where the first shot was fired in the Civil War, Fort Sumter.  The boys answered questions after touring the fort and earned their 'Junior Ranger badges'.

Back at our beach house while raining we crafted and made cut out cookies.  And when the sun came out we literally ran outside!  Kayaking, crabbing, jumping on the trampoline filled our moments while basking in the sun.
(more photos still to come . . . )
