police

We attended (with grandma and grandpa) a story time at the library and the police came.  The librarian read a story, we sang a song and then the story time took a much different turn.  The police officer talked about everything on her belt - nightstick (and how to take people out with it, always helpful for 4 yr olds), extra bullets, her gun, handcuffs, and among other items a taser.  Did you know that a taser shoots wires out with fish hooks in the end that lodge themselves into your skin and have to be removed from the hospital?  I didn't know that either and I don't believe my 4 yr old needed to know that.  Luckily, the kids were so excited to see the police car that none of that registered with them (boy did it for the adults).

Blaise wasn't a huge fan of the back seat (good) but loved the front seat (couldn't get him out of it).  Who knows maybe a future police officer  . .  . if so I will tell him not to talk about tasers during story times in order to not scare all the parents.

preschool field trip - gromoore farms

My parents arrived in town last night.  We kicked off their visit with a preschool field trip.  Handmade pumpkin cats, haunted house, fed the goats, a hay bale maze, and more.  Blaise's favorite activity was the tractor ride while I enjoyed watching my parents. . . .watch Blaise.

day with Blaise

Damian and Ambrose were off to Babcock Hovey (a scout camp Damian used to camp at and was a counselor) for an all day adventure.  Meanwhile, Blaise and I had a 'mommy/son' date day.  At soccer in the morning, Blaise runs and runs and runs, those little legs trying to keep up with everyone else.  He gets so excited when he gets the ball that he runs any direction he feels like it (whether toward his goal or not).  The whole time having a priceless grin and giggle.

After lunch at the Public Market, yum, empanadas!  We were off to Powers Farm.  After all the time I've been in Rochester I hate to admit that it was my first trip to the farm.  This is such a great place. . . .I may have to go again this season.  In about an hour and half we fed animals (deer, sheep, donkey, alpacas), went in their tee pees (lit with carved pumpkins), went on a hayride and ate fried donuts.

portrait

With fall in the air,
we went for a walk.
Enjoying the colors and smells.
Perfect day for a new portrait.

Rolling in leaves, laughing, being silly.

In front of a red Japanese maple, provided beautiful texture resulted in goofy faces.

In front of the neighbor's mums, my favorite.

seton marathon

Beautiful weather and lots of spirit kicked off the annual Marathon today.  The morning started off with a prayer service and then a pep rally (yep, that's me dressed as a Catholic school girl - cheerleader for the pep rally).  Kindergarten thru sixth grade participate by walking around the school's neighborhood; the upper grades do six miles.  Ambrose and the other first graders all dressed in blue and walked two miles today.  I love the fact that Ambrose wanted to walk with me today and hold my hand (someday that won't be the same).  What wonderful mom/son time.

preschool marathon

Seton's annual preschool Marathon took place yesterday.  The kids walked twice around the school/church campus with a stop for juice hand stamp.  It is so cute to watch all the little legs walk s-l-o-w-l-y down the sidewalk.  The end results in tired legs and kids who look like they are ready for naps.  Blaise came home ate lunch and then went upstairs and fell asleep before I made it upstairs to tuck him in.

johnny appleseed

Ambrose's class had a Johnny Appleseed event in class.  They made hats with Johnny's signature look, an upside down pot. Various apples were tasted before choosing their fav (his yellow delicious).  An original (composed by each student) fall poem was typed into the computer during computer lab time.  And in the kitchen all hands in the mixing bowl for making homemade applesauce and apple crisp.  The best part was watching faces as the 'sour' apples were tried and the satisfaction of eating something they had made.
