my day

Showered with gifts on my special day from friends and family.
Time with family, time for a siesta, time to read
and time out just Damian and I for dinner.

What a perfect day!

free time

Ambrose in kindergarten. Blaise off to his first official day of preschool. Mommy has some free time, so I hit the streets to roller blade. There I am jamming to the tunes on my ipod, enjoying the beautiful sunny day, going down Park Avenue and where do my thoughts go? The boys. What are they doing, are they having fun, making friends, etc.? Too funny.

sold

The Epilepsy Foundation's Chocolate Ball (25th year) was last night. I've been helping with the ball now for several years (maybe 7 or 8? Well, I've lost count.) Last night, we had almost 450 people attend, 9 chocolate creations (that were all very delicious), and an incredible live and silent auction. I'm proud to say that one of my photos was framed and sold in the silent auction - see photo below.

During the presentations, a girl who is a college sophomore and won a scholarship through the Foundation spoke. She was diagnosed with epilepsy in second grade (petit mal seizures) and then they advanced to grand mal seizures, she takes medication daily in order to be seizure free. What an incredible girl and story. She plays soccer, attends college and has overcome so much! She spoke of her grandfather, a mentor, who taught her at the age of seven to play cards. She gave the analogy of epilepsy being like playing cards - you are dealt your hand and you play to win.

Last night it was great to catch up with doctors and nurses that I used to call on as a pharmaceutical sales representative. I had a wonderful group of volunteers that helped make last night a successful event. Epilepsy is not talked about very much. 1 in 100 people have epilepsy. I was honored to help with such a successful event for an incredible organization, what a blessing!
