hike - four mile preserve

We met the Walkers today in Webster (at the end of Phillips Road) at a trail that was brand new to us. Four Mile Preserve which we heard had tons of cars along the way. Well - not exactly, we saw 2. The trail meandered through the thick-blanketed snow-covered woods. We passed several eagle projects including bridges and birdhouses.

The boys found vines to swing on, bridges to climb on and under, and cars to look at. What a fantastic trail, we will definitely be back.

fat tuesday

Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday we celebrated with a homemade king cake - YUM! Blaise was 'king' for the day as he found the Lego guy (oops couldn't find a baby in our house to put in the cake).

blaise turns 13

Blaise turned 13! It is a different kind of year being COVID is still going on. We celebrated his day with dinner of his choice: turkey meatloaf, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans. For dessert an ice cream cake (recipe from Cathy Smith's - Nana's Ice Cream Cake). He received for gifts two remote control cars and a ski mask along with Ambrose made him a copper wire clock. Later this week we will go ice skating with a few of his friends.

hiking

Tomorrow is the day. I can't believe it. It is necessary. But why? My dad will go into a facility. I have so many emotions.

This is where I feel stress-free, emotions go away, I know that he is walking with me . . .

egypt park

Hike in Egypt Park and around Lollypop Farm on a 'snowglobe' kind of snow day. Chunks of snow were gathered and thrown. Picturesque walk down the path while hearing laughter from the buds who were busy moving around/throwing snowballs/climbing on each other and just being boys. Fresh air, laughter, and exercise - just what we need.

indoor track

We have a season, which is great for the boys. But we as adults can not come in and be spectators. Yep, Covid. Running with masks on, practicing with masks on, running outside. The plus side - they are active, they are able to be around friends outside of school and get to know other students at McQuaid.
