We met up with the Bindigs at Letchworth. We hiked down to the falls and up to the railroad trestle. Conversations were abundant, nature delivered, and lunch on a huge concrete slab table that we carried in. Max had his cast off from his foot but we cut our hiking a bit short. Beautiful day at the park.

Huckleberry swamp
A drive to Sodus Point to take photos and notes on the boardwalk at Huckleberry Swamp for research. Ambrose is researching for his Eagle project which he hopes to do at Maceyville Trail (a trail we helped out in 2 years ago in Sodus Point). Stay tuned for more....

hike - four mile preserve
We met the Walkers today in Webster (at the end of Phillips Road) at a trail that was brand new to us. Four Mile Preserve which we heard had tons of cars along the way. Well - not exactly, we saw 2. The trail meandered through the thick-blanketed snow-covered woods. We passed several eagle projects including bridges and birdhouses.
The boys found vines to swing on, bridges to climb on and under, and cars to look at. What a fantastic trail, we will definitely be back.

after school
Upon taking a full time job I thought how will the boys handle me not being in school? Not coming to our house off the bus after school? Well . . . . . I think they are having more fun after school because they have 'built-in' play dates each day. On Thursdays they stay with a friend of mine at school in the science lab sometimes where she teaches or to their house. This past Thursday, they went to her house and went on a hike through Washington Grove and enjoyed the beautiful weather! I believe this is working out pretty well.

hike at huckleberry swamp
As part of the last weekend before school started; we took a hike in Huckleberry Swamp (N. Rose, NY). The colors of the trees are already starting to come out with leaves crunching beneath our feet. We saw two hummingbirds dancing around, fish trying to find water (the swamp was almost dry), tons of frogs and one snake slithered by. It was a beautiful end to the summer - sunny, picturesque scenery all around and the boys pointing out what they saw on the hike. Summer just a memory . . . now onto school time (see above for first day of school photo).
