outside time

Trees to climb, sticks to carry around, run, skip and enjoy outdoor time.  The fallen down tree in our neighbor's yard has been a pirate ship to simply a tree to climb on.  The crocuses that are popping up are now framed with sticks and have a bed of pine needles to protect them from being mowed over.  Large branches have boxed in where the boys want tall grasses to grow, another 'no mow' zone.

The imagination runs wild while they are outside.  The two of them embark on their own world.  Today I looked out the window and saw that they found two ping pong balls. . . .which led to a number of activities.  This one was a favorite . . .

spring is coming . . .

Although you may not be able to tell by the temperatures outside it is officially spring. This weekend we attended the Home & Garden show downtown.

We were inspired by the beautiful displays, especially the flowers.  Some flowers 'smile' cheesier then others.
We were invited to attend a breakfast with the Easter Bunny.  We ate, we danced (the chicken dance),

we limboed,

or at least tried to.

Ambrose was picked to help the magician perform some of his tricks.  What a great time!

doodle for google

Google has an annual illustration contest.  The theme this year was 'My best day ever . . .'.  Ambrose quickly decided his best day ever was a day at Seabreeze, a local amusement park.  His drawing includes some of his favorites, see below.

green treat

You know the days where you have a long list of to-dos and a little helper along.  Car door open, unbuckle, run in, back out, hop in, buckle, close door.  Do it again and again.

We were making good time until we went to the grocery store.  We've never shopped at this one before.  Circle around, check down that aisle, circle around again, the whole time a smile on his face. . . .
Why?  Because he simply couldn't wait for this . . .a green bagel for lunch!  I'll take a helper any day, especially him.

demo time

On Saturday morning at 8:30am the crew began tearing down the Old Wegmans.  The TV crews were lined up across the street.  We were sitting in our car next to a fire truck (with firemen watching through binoculars).

You can see the new Wegmans behind which will include a Market Cafe and Amore Italian Restaurant.  More to come . . .

we are ready

This weekend wrapped up skiing, as we went to Brantling one last time.  I'm very proud to say that I did not fall once yesterday.  I began skiing this year and took a few lessons.  I successfully skied at Brantling and at Hunt Hollow where I rode the ski lift to the top and skied down a trail.  So I'm no Lindsay Vonn but I look forward to skiing again next year.  The best part, riding the T bar with Ambrose while he tells me fascinating stories.  Or how about Blaise who tells me 'mommy, I will give you a lesson'.  Hmmm, I think I will pass on that one; as I've seen him race down the hill.  I will stick to my long turns as I watch my boys fly down the hill.

This week we wrap up ice skating and hockey.  Blaise has been taking a 'learn-to-play' hockey class.  I've seen so much improvement in his skating.  And I figured out a way for him to remember (since he is left handed) which hand to hold his stick in, a piece of tape now adorns his right glove.

So no more skiing, skating or hockey.  What is next?  Blaise?
