memorial day

Newtown Battlefield State Park in Elmira, NY was where we camped overnight for 2 nights over Memorial Day weekend.  The campground lent it self to 'make up your own games' at the playground, beautiful hikes, sitting around the campfire and just relaxing.  In the state park we saw replica Iroquis cabins.

We ventured to a Nature Center, downtown Corning and took in Glass Fest and the Rockwell Museum which is full of western art.  A great time with friends and family!

visit from grandma and grandpa

Sharing our normal routine with Grandma and Grandpa during their latest visit to Rochester.  Simple pleasures of tossing the baseball, working on wood projects with Grandpa, playing board games and sitting down to a family meal.  Truly special time.

My parents and I went to the fish hatchery in Powder Mills Park.  Peaceful, sunny and mesmerizing to watch the fish try and capture the little pellets of food.  Followed by a wine tasting at Casa Larga made for a perfect outing.

uss little rock

Cub Scout Pack 65 spent a night on the USS Little Rock (Navy Ship in Buffalo, NY).  We slept and ate just like the navy personnel would have done so years ago.  We explored every inch of two navy ships and a submarine (who knew there could be so many switches, dials, etc. on one ship).  What an amazing experience!

washington dc

Udvar Hazy Air and Space, Air and Space on the National Mall, National Cathedral, Embassy Row, Natural History Museum, American History Museum, Smithsonian Castle, Ford's Theater, St. Patrick's Church for Easter Mass, private Capitol tour with police, all the monuments, Arlington Cemetery, National Archives, National Engraving and Library of Congress.

Wow!  What an incredible, fun, educational trip with our family.   The Jorgensen's were also in the city at the same time and we spent Easter day mass and dinners with them.  The boys spent soooo much time taking photos and well maybe I did too.  It was truly about the time together, learning and laughing and making memories.

Ambrose crosses over to Boy Scouts

Ceremony, celebration and good times were had by all tonight at the AOL crossover for Pack 65.  Ambrose has crossed over to Troop 31 and goes to his first meeting on Monday.  The Scoutmaster said they will already start working on a merit badge!

Damian was his den leader for the last 5 years.  He led the ceremony tonight and it got pretty emotional as he (Damian) is saying goodbye to his Scouts.  The arrows that were put together by each parent and plaque made by Damian are symbolic of their time in Cub Scouts.

The next chapter is here . . . Boy Scouts.
